Dateline Amagansett, NY. Thursday afternoon, Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy and young daughter convened at the airy picnic tables out back at La Fondita on Route 27 for light Mexican meal. And at sundown, I am told, Alec Baldwin took an order to go.
So excited for Zac Posen. He was just named the creative director of women’s clothing and accessories at Brooks Brothers.
“As soon as we met, it was clear to us that he had a true understanding of our brand and its storied 196 year heritage as well as the creativity to modernize our offerings within the category,” said Claudio Del Vecchio, Chairman and CEO of Brooks Brothers.
Discussing his new role at Brooks Brothers, Posen said, “I am truly honored and excited…to take the Brooks Brothers Women’s brand into the future while respecting its deep, rich American heritage.”
Yup, they got schooled, and in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, no less. This went down at the Oakley Learn to Ride- Surf on Monday, June 23rd. The three stars had never surfed before. But Oakley pro-surfer Sage Erickson, quickly had them up on waves. Lea Michelle of GLEE, ended up spending over two hours in the water, paddling out and chasing the waves. A ripped Kellan Lutz of EXPENDABLES 3, popped right up on his first wave. He competing with his brother for the longest ride of the day. But Chanel Iman took that honor. . .

Um, did Queen Elizabeth used to be a wee bit dowdier. I like the black and white monochromatic thing she’s trying here while unveiling a plaque at the Chunnel on the 20th Anniversary of the opening. But the video here really makes me laugh. Something amusing about the way everyone jumps to, puts on their best possible behavior possible when they’re around her. UNICEF Ambassador Selena Gomez has just returned from a visit to Nepal, where she traveled to bring attention to children in need.
A UNICEF Ambassador since 2009, Selena has played an active role in advocating for the world’s most vulnerable children.
“This visit to Nepal was powerful—at times, devastating and heartbreaking, but also incredibly inspiring,” said Selena Gomez. “At first when you witness children living in extreme poverty you wonder how it is possible that they can be deprived of their basic human needs.
Then you talk to these children and you see hope, promise and a bright future. This generation of children believes they can make a difference, and they take action.”
During her trip, Gomez visited the child-friendly Satbariya Rapti Secondary School, supported by UNICEF, that has a safe, interactive, creative and fun learning environment.
“It was amazing to learn from these young boys and girls about how they are influencing their peers as well as adults on issues that have an impact on their lives,” said Gomez. “Many of the children I talked to expressed a desire to be future leaders.”
Music was in the air at the Satbariya school as the child club members broke into a Nepali folk song, playing musical instruments presented to them as a gift by Gomez. She later joined students as they performed traditional dances of the Tharu community.
In the village of Kohalpur, Gomez met with young people who had been recruited into the armed conflict that ended eight years ago and learned how, with UNICEF’s support, they reintegrated back into their families and society. “It was difficult to hear about the harsh lives these girls led in the camps, but I was inspired by their motivation to build a better future,” said Gomez.
Calling the trip an “eye-opener,” Gomez said, “The children of Nepal have taught me that with a lot of passion, optimism and hard work, anything is possible. That’s the message I would like to convey to young people across the world: Believe in your dreams and pursue them.”
Selena Gomez is a recording artist, actress and designer. A UNICEF Ambassador since 2009, she has played an active role in advocating for the world’s most vulnerable children by participating in numerous campaigns, events, and initiatives on behalf of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, including headlining charity concerts and serving as a previous spokesperson for the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign. This was Gomez’s third trip on behalf of UNICEF. She previously visited Ghana and Chile.
Ocean Activists gathered in Santa Monica, CA on Friday evening, May 16th, at the 2nd Annual Nautica Oceana Beach House party. Oceana Board Member Ted Danson welcomed guests and introducing Oceana champions and celebrity co-hosts Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly and Despicable Me) and Austin Nichols (The Day After Tomorrow, Showtime’s Ray Donovan, CW’s One Tree Hill). The hosts spoke about their work with the organization and urged others to get involved. Austin Nichols shared fun factoids about sharks “You’re way more likely to get struck by lightning than be attacked by a shark. You’re more likely to be killed by a jellyfish. My favorite is, you’re more likely to be killed by a vending machine than killed by a shark!”
“I got the chance to swim with a pod of wild Atlantic spotted dolphins” mentioned Cosgrove. “They swam right next to me.”
Recording artist and Nickelodeon star Drake Bell performed songs off his new album, Ready Steady Go! The evening was concluded by a live set from DJ Connor Cruise.

Just read Grace, by Grace Coddington. If you haven’t read it, you kind of won’t believe the decades that her career has spanned. Right there at the center of fashion and photography since the ’60s. And she gives everyone else credit for everything and then at the end of the book, they show a lot of her shoots and you’re like–wait a minute nothing else has that kind of quality. Her haunting beauty permeates the prose, the pictures, the pictures of her. Even the cover of the book, bright orange illuminates a room. Such a beautiful inside views of people like David Bailey, Bruce Weber, Michael Chow, Irving Penn, Anna Wintour, Liz Tilberas, Andre Leon Tally, Karl Laggerfeld, St. Laurent. Has there ever been a model with THIS kind of substance! And the people she loves and champions, like Karen Elson, are always the nice ones. .. .LOVED!
It was a who’s who of Coachella-esque young Hollywood types poolside dressed in Guess at the GUESS Hotel at the Viceroy on Day One. Such as Ashley Madekwe, Camilla Belle, Whitney Port, Brittany Snow, Jamie Chung, and Shenae Grimes all wearing Guess Coachella-inspired getups.
Oh, and today, Day II, Jamie Chung and fiancé Bryan Greenburg came back to the hotel earlier in the day and got into a harmless water gun fight. Coachella headliners Arcade Fire were talking about how excited they were about being the closing act for the festival.
